Your honest guide to the Harmony Jewels timeline, with the dates that matter
You have decided the moment is Christmas, or midnight on New Year's Eve. The ring now has a deadline, and one question comes up straight away: do we have enough time?
It is a very fair question. Christmas Day falls on a Friday this year, and New Year's Eve on a Thursday. Understanding the timeline now means no stress, no guesswork, and no awkward moments when the big day arrives and the ring is not ready.
At Harmony Jewels, we believe in full transparency from the very first conversation. So here is exactly what to expect, and when to start.
For most bespoke engagement rings, plan for four to six weeks from your first appointment to the moment your ring is boxed and ready. For the year round version, see our bespoke timeline guide.
That covers everything: the consultation where we talk through your vision, the design stage where sketches and renders take shape, stone sourcing if needed, and the crafting itself. It also leaves room for the back and forth that is part of making something truly personal, such as adjusting a setting or revisiting a proportion before any metal is cut.
This window is not padding. It is the time needed to do the work properly.
Here is the simplest way to plan. Pick your date, then count backwards.
Proposing on Christmas Day (Friday 25 December)
Proposing on New Year's Eve (Thursday 31 December)
We suggest building in at least a week of spare time on top of these dates. Christmas is a popular time to propose, and a little buffer means any final tweaks can happen calmly, not in a rush.
The moment you sign off on the final design, the making phase begins. From confirmation of the cut, setting, and specifications, creating your ring typically takes two to four weeks.
This is where the goldsmith's work happens: the wax model, the casting, the setting of stones, the polishing, and the quality checks. Each stage takes the time it takes, and we never rush them.
This matters for your date. The sooner you confirm your design, the sooner the making starts. Being decisive in the design stage is the best way to protect your Christmas or New Year deadline. Browse our engagement ring settings to shortlist styles early, read our guide to choosing a setting if you want help deciding, and settle earth mined versus lab grown before your appointment.
In certain circumstances, we can create a bespoke ring in under a week.
If you come to us on a Saturday, we can have your ring ready as early as the following Friday. For appointments made on Monday, the ring can be ready by Friday evening, provided the design is confirmed by Monday morning at the latest. Miss that Monday morning window and a Friday delivery cannot be guaranteed.
This is not a standard offering. It needs everything to align: quick design decisions, stones available, and workshop space to prioritise your piece. In the busy weeks before Christmas, availability can be tighter, so please do not treat it as your plan A.
If you are already close to the date, come and speak to us. We will tell you honestly what is achievable and do everything we can to make it happen. And if a bespoke design cannot fit the timeline, our ready to ship engagement rings are a beautiful fallback.
A bespoke engagement ring is not pulled from a display case. It is designed around you, built for one person, and crafted to be worn every day for the rest of a life. The weeks involved are not waiting. They are working.
Every consultation informs the design. Every design decision shapes the making. And every stage of making is checked before the next begins. The result is a ring that could not have come from anywhere else.
That is what bespoke means at Harmony Jewels, and it is worth every day of the process.
