Your honest, no-surprise guide to the Harmony Jewels creation process
You have found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Now comes the ring. And alongside all the excitement, one question tends to surface almost immediately: how long is this going to take?
It is a completely fair question. Whether you are planning a proposal months in advance or have suddenly realised the moment is approaching faster than expected, understanding the timeline means no stress, no guesswork, and no awkward conversations about why the ring is not ready yet.
At Harmony Jewels, we believe in full transparency from the very first conversation. So here is exactly what to expect.
For most bespoke engagement rings, you should plan for four to six weeks from your first appointment through to the moment the ring is placed in its box and ready for you.
That timeline covers everything: the initial consultation where we discuss your vision, the design process where sketches and renders take shape, stone sourcing if required, and of course the crafting itself. It also allows for the back-and-forth that is simply part of creating something truly personal; adjusting a setting, revisiting a proportion, making sure every detail is exactly right before a single piece of metal is cut.
The moment you sign off on the final design, the clock on the making phase begins. From confirmation of the cut, setting, and specifications, the physical creation of your ring typically takes two to four weeks.
This is where the goldsmith's work happens: the wax model, the casting, the setting of stones, the polishing, and the quality checks. Each of these stages takes the time it takes and we never rush them.
More complex designs: intricate pavé settings, unusual stone combinations, deeply custom metalwork, may push the overall process closer to eight weeks. If your design falls into that category, we will tell you clearly at the start.
Here is something we are quietly proud of: in certain circumstances, we can create a bespoke ring in under a week.
If you come to us on a Saturday, we can have your ring ready as early as the following Friday. The same applies for appointments made on Monday: provided the design is confirmed by Monday morning at the latest, the ring can be ready by Friday evening. Miss that Monday morning window and the Friday delivery date cannot be guaranteed. This is not a standard offering, and it requires everything to align: design decisions made quickly, stones available, and our workshop at capacity to prioritise your piece.
It does not happen often. But it does happen. And when it does, it feels a little like magic.
A bespoke engagement ring is not an item pulled from a display case. It is designed around you, built for one person, and crafted to be worn every day for the rest of a life. The weeks involved are not waiting: they are working.
Every consultation informs the design. Every design decision shapes the making. And every stage of making is checked before the next begins. The result is a ring that could not have come from anywhere else.
That is what bespoke means at Harmony Jewels. And it is worth every day of the process.
Whether your proposal is six months away or six weeks, get in touch today and we will map out exactly what is possible for you. Every great ring starts with a single conversation.
