Bespoke Engagement Rings, Designed and Made in Hatton Garden, London

At Harmony Jewels, we design and make bespoke engagement rings in our own workshop in Hatton Garden, London's jewellery quarter, where we opened in 1982. You can start with one of our settings, start with a diamond, or begin with a blank page or a family stone. Bespoke rings start from £938 (setting only), and your CAD design and a 3D wax model you can try on are included. A bespoke ring typically takes 4–8 weeks, and we work with natural and lab-grown diamonds, which we're happy to show you side by side.

What is a bespoke engagement ring?

A bespoke engagement ring is designed for one person and made to order, rather than bought from a display case. At Harmony Jewels in Hatton Garden, "bespoke" covers three routes: personalising one of our settings, designing around a diamond you've chosen, or creating a completely one-of-a-kind ring from a blank page or a family stone.

The word gets used loosely, so here's how we use it. Every route below ends with a ring made for you in your size, with your choice of stone and metal. The difference is how much of the design starts from scratch.

Customised, designed around a diamond, or one-of-a-kind: which is right for you?

To be honest, many people find their perfect ring by customising one of our settings, because they're tried-and-tested designs that you can still make your own. If you have something unusual in mind, or a stone with family history, we'll start from zero. And if your proposal is only days away, ask about our rush service or have a look at our ready-to-ship engagement rings.

How our bespoke process works, step by step

Our bespoke process has five steps: a complimentary consultation in Hatton Garden or online, choosing your diamond or gemstone, approving a CAD design and trying on a wax model, handcrafting in our Hatton Garden workshop, and collection or delivery. A bespoke ring typically takes 4–8 weeks, and nothing is made until you confirm the design.

Here's a summary of each step. For more detail on every stage, see our full bespoke process.

  1. Harmony Jewels London business card held in front of the Hatton Garden showroom

    1. Consultation in Hatton Garden or online

Your first appointment is complimentary and takes about an hour, in our showroom at 102 Hatton Garden or by video. Bring screenshots, a Pinterest board or nothing at all. Our team, including Antea and Esra, will talk you through style, budget and, if you have one, your proposal date. We like to start from zero: we break the ring down into its parts, explore which design suits you, and work out the right size for the centre stone. Plenty of customers come back two or three times before deciding, and that's completely fine. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended. Weekday mornings are usually the quietest time to visit.

  2. Two round brilliant diamonds with jeweller's tweezers

    2. Choosing your diamond or gemstone

We'll show you natural and lab-grown diamonds side by side, so you can see the difference (or the lack of one) for yourself. Our lab-grown diamonds are IGI certified, and our natural diamonds are mainly GIA or IGI certified. Every stone is checked on video by our sourcing team, then inspected in person, and it only reaches you if it passes both checks. To read up first, try our guides to diamond cut and diamond shapes.

  3. Goldsmith working on a ring model in the Harmony Jewels workshop

    3. Design: a CAD drawing and a wax model you can try on, both included

We design your ring in house on CAD (computer-aided design), so you can see it from every angle before anything is made. Then we produce a 3D wax model, so you can hold your ring and try it on before it exists. Both are included in your bespoke price, and so are three rounds of design changes. Nothing is made until you confirm your CAD.

  4. Finished diamond engagement ring with its GIA grading report

    4. Handcrafting in our Hatton Garden workshop

Once you confirm the design, our goldsmiths make your ring by hand in our own workshop in Hatton Garden: casting from the approved model, setting the stones, polishing, and a final quality check. Every ring is then hallmarked at the London Assay Office, the independent guarantee of its precious metal content.

  5. Harmony Jewels ring box and pink gift bag with a diamond engagement ring

    5. Collection, delivery and aftercare

Collect your ring from the showroom, or we'll send it with free insured delivery. If you collect, the cardholder will need to bring photo ID. Every bespoke ring comes with free lifetime cleaning and inspection for UK customers and our 1-year manufacturer's warranty. More on that in aftercare below.

How long does a bespoke engagement ring take?

A bespoke engagement ring from Harmony Jewels typically takes 4–8 weeks. That covers your consultation, the design (a CAD drawing and a wax model you can try on), sourcing your stone and handcrafting the ring in our Hatton Garden workshop. Tell us your proposal date at your first appointment and we'll plan the whole process around it.

Need it sooner? Our rush service

Our rush service is available on request for an extra £500, subject to approval by our sales team. Confirm your CAD by Friday and your ring will be ready the following Friday, five working days later. Rush rings are delivered before hallmarking, so we ask you to bring yours back after the proposal and we'll have it hallmarked at the London Assay Office. Strict terms and conditions apply, and we'll take you through them before you commit.

Planning around a proposal date

Work back from the date. If you're aiming for a Christmas, Valentine's Day or holiday proposal, book your first consultation at least 10 weeks ahead, so there's time to choose a stone and refine the design without rushing.

How much does a bespoke engagement ring cost?

Bespoke engagement rings at Harmony Jewels start from £938 (setting only), for our Juliette Solitaire in 9k yellow gold. The final price depends mostly on the centre stone (natural or lab-grown, carat, cut, colour and clarity), then the metal and how detailed the design is. Your CAD design and wax model are included.

You'll agree the full price in writing before we make anything.

Natural or lab-grown: what it means for your budget

Lab-grown and natural diamonds are both real diamonds. The difference is origin and price: a lab-grown diamond usually lets you choose a larger or higher-grade stone for the same budget, while a natural diamond appeals if rarity and tradition matter most to you. We'll never push you either way. Come in and hold both. Our guide to earth-mined vs lab-grown diamonds and our lab-grown diamond guide explain more.

Metal choice and price

We make bespoke rings in 9k, 14k and 18k gold, in yellow, white or rose, and in platinum. 9k gold is the most affordable choice; higher karats contain more pure gold; and platinum is naturally white and very hard-wearing. See our metal guide and 14k vs 18k gold.

Spread the cost: 12 months interest-free finance

12 months interest-free finance is available, subject to status, through Ideal4Finance. You can check what suits your budget before you apply. Ask our team at your consultation for details, including who can apply.

What's included, and what you'll get in writing

Your CAD design, 3D wax model and three rounds of design changes are all included in your bespoke price, so you see and try on your ring before it's made, at no extra cost. Before we start making, you'll have in writing:

  • your confirmed CAD design
  • your wax model to try on
  • a full specification: metal, ring size, and the stone's shape, carat, colour, clarity, cut and origin (natural or lab-grown), with its IGI or GIA certificate
  • an itemised quote
  • your agreed timeline (typically 4–8 weeks, confirmed for your piece when you confirm the CAD)
  • payment terms: full payment upfront, with no deposit
  • your aftercare terms

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Amex and bank transfer, or you can spread the cost with interest-free finance (see above).

Choose your diamond, gemstone, shape and setting

At Harmony Jewels you can build a bespoke engagement ring around a natural or lab-grown diamond or a coloured gemstone, in ten diamond shapes, using any of our setting styles as a starting point: solitaire, hidden halo, halo, trilogy or diamond band. We'll talk you through how each choice looks on your hand and wears day to day.

Loose diamonds in presentation boxes with a diamond grading report and a yellow gold ring

Natural and lab-grown diamonds

Browse natural diamonds (mainly GIA or IGI certified) and IGI-certified lab-grown diamonds online. You can also search all our diamonds by shape, carat and budget, or ask us to pull a selection for your appointment so you can compare them in the showroom.

Coloured gemstones

Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and tanzanite all work beautifully as a centre stone or as accents beside a diamond. We'll advise on which stones suit a ring that will be worn every day.

Diamond shapes

Round, oval, cushion, emerald, pear, radiant, princess, marquise, asscher and heart. Compare them in our diamond shapes guide, or browse by shape, for example oval engagement rings or round engagement rings.

Setting styles and details you can change

Start from a solitaire, halo, trilogy or diamond band and make it yours: claw shape, band profile, stone spacing, a hidden halo, or a diamond-set bridge under the centre stone. We'll also tell you honestly if a delicate idea won't stand up to everyday wear, and suggest how to keep the look while making it stronger.

Using your own or a family diamond

Yes, we can set your own diamond, whether it's a grandparent's stone or one from a ring that no longer suits you. You choose one of our Harmony Jewels settings, in 14k gold, 18k gold or platinum, and our Hatton Garden workshop sets your stone in it, so an heirloom becomes a ring made for you. We'll look at the stone first and tell you honestly which settings will suit it best before you commit to anything.

Designing a bespoke ring from outside London

You don't need to visit Hatton Garden to design a bespoke ring with Harmony Jewels. Book a complimentary virtual consultation, and we'll share stones, CAD designs and photos with you online. Your finished ring comes with free insured delivery, or you can collect it from our showroom whenever you're in London.

We can send stone videos and CAD renders so you can review every detail at home. For orders outside the UK, local import duties and taxes may apply. See our FAQ for details.

Why choose a Hatton Garden jeweller for a bespoke ring?

Hatton Garden has been London's jewellery quarter for generations, so it's one of the best places in the UK to compare real stones and talk to people who make rings every day. At Harmony Jewels, a family jeweller on Hatton Garden since 1982, with our own workshop here, you get that expertise without the hard sell.

We know the street can feel overwhelming, and some shops push for a quick decision. We work differently: we see ourselves as consultants rather than sellers. The same experienced team stays with you from the first conversation to collection, with no call centre in between. Take your time, ask anything, and come back as often as you like. Read more about Harmony Jewels.

Aftercare included with your bespoke ring

Every bespoke ring from Harmony Jewels comes with free lifetime cleaning and inspection for UK customers and a 1-year manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects. If your proposal was a surprise and the ring doesn't quite fit, the first resize is free. Bring your ring to our Hatton Garden showroom, or post it to us.

  • Free lifetime cleaning and inspection (UK customers), including bespoke rings: in the showroom, or you pay postage to us and we cover the return. About lifetime cleaning
  • 1-year manufacturer's warranty: we'll repair or replace your ring if there's a manufacturing defect within a year of purchase. It doesn't cover everyday wear, loss or theft, and alterations by another jeweller void it. Read the warranty terms
  • Free first resize after a surprise proposal: if you didn't know their size, we'll adjust the fit once, free of charge. Our finger size guide can help you get close.
