A Symbol of Eternity
Derived from the Greek words "tri-" (meaning 'three times') and "-logia" (meaning 'story'), trilogy engagement rings are characterised by three gemstones set side by side. These exquisite rings hold a special place in the world of jewellery, symbolising eternal love and commitment. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into what trilogy engagement rings are, what they symbolise, the various styles they come in, and much more!
A trilogy engagement ring is a piece of jewellery featuring three gemstones set side by side on the same band. While the most common design consists of three round diamonds being the centre stone the larger one, there are no strict rules regarding the type, colour, shape, or size of the gemstones used. This flexibility in design makes trilogy rings a popular choice among those seeking bespoke engagement rings.
Trilogy rings are most commonly gifted as engagement rings. They are also suitable as wedding bands or commitment rings, especially those with gemstones of equal size, creating a consistent, band-like coverage of the finger. The allure of trilogy rings lies not only in their stunning aesthetics but also in the rich symbolism they carry.
The most widely regarded symbolism of the trilogy ring is the concept of eternity. The three gemstones represent the past, the present, and the future, symbolising shared memories and the promise of lifelong commitment. This makes the trilogy design a perfect choice for an engagement ring, marking the beginning of a lifetime together.
Trilogy engagement rings offer a wide range of styles, with different combinations of gemstones and metals to suit individual tastes. While diamonds are the most common gemstones used, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds are also popular choices. Here are some stunning trilogy rings designs:
Larger Centre Diamond:
Most trilogy rings feature a larger centre diamond with smaller gemstones on either side, adding an elegant and dynamic touch to the design.
Various Setting Styles:
The stones in trilogy rings can be set in various ways, including prongs, bezels, or channel settings,
allowing for customisation based on personal preferences.
Metal Choices:
The band of a trilogy ring can be made from various metals, such as yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or
platinum, enabling you to choose the metal that suits your style.
Trilogy rings can also be personalised with engravings, such as the couple's names or the date of their engagement, adding a unique and sentimental touch to the ring, making it even more special! Additionally, trilogy rings can be paired with matching wedding bands designed to complement the style and metal of the engagement ring, creating a seamless and elegant look.
