The fashion capital's most exciting week is nearly upon us, and darling, it's going to be absolutely brilliant.
Right, let's get straight to it – New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026 is shaping up to be an absolute corker. Running from 11-16 September, this six-day extravaganza promises over 60 runway shows and presentations that'll have fashion devotees glued to their screens and scrambling for front-row seats.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has just dropped the preliminary schedule, and honestly? We're rather chuffed with what we're seeing. From beloved returning designers to fresh-faced newcomers making their debut, this season's lineup reads like a proper who's who of American fashion.
The Prime Time Players
Some things in fashion never go out of style, and neither do these design darlings who've secured their spots in NYFW's hall of fame:
Christian Siriano kicks things off in style on 11 September at 3 p.m. – because if anyone knows how to set the tone for a spectacular week, it's him. His theatrical presentations never fail to deliver that perfect blend of glamour and wearability that keeps editors scribbling furiously in their front-row seats.
Altuzarra returns on 13 September at 11 a.m., bringing that sophisticated Parisian-meets-New York sensibility that's made him a perennial favourite. Expect impeccable tailoring with just the right amount of edge.
The evening of 13 September is particularly mouth-watering, with Prabal Gurung, Todd Snyder, and Khaite showing back-to-back. It's going to be one of those nights where you'll want to be everywhere at once – the eternal fashion week dilemma.
The Powerhouse Presentations
Tory Burch claims her spot on 15 September at 6 p.m., followed by Luar at 8 p.m. – and might we add, Luar's recent American Accessory Designer of the Year win makes this show one to watch closely. There's nothing quite like seeing a designer at the top of their game.
Other returning stalwarts include Diotima and Sergio Hudson, both of whom have consistently delivered collections that manage to be both commercially savvy and creatively compelling – no mean feat in today's fashion landscape.
NYFW Debuts to Watch
Fashion week wouldn't be fashion week without a healthy dose of fresh talent, and this season's serving up some particularly intriguing newcomers:
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Spotlight
The 2025 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists are having their moment, and rightly so. Keep your eyes peeled for Ashlyn, Bach Mai, Bernard James, Gabe Gordon, Don't Let Disco, Heirlome, Jamie Okuma, and Meruert Tolegen. This programme has an enviable track record of spotting the next big thing, so consider this your insider tip.
Grace Ling, recipient of the 2024 CFDA/Genesis House AAPI Design + Innovation Grant, debuts on 11 September at 8 p.m. – prime real estate for a newcomer, which tells you everything about the level of anticipation surrounding her collection.
Brandon Maxwell's Milestone Moment
Brandon Maxwell is staging his 10th anniversary show on 9 September evening, just before the official festivities kick off. A decade in fashion is worth celebrating, particularly when you've built a reputation for creating clothes that are both red-carpet worthy and surprisingly wearable. This pre-NYFW showcase is bound to set the celebratory tone for the week ahead.
The International Invasion
This season welcomes some rather exciting international players to New York's stages. Cos, Toteme, and Off-White are all decamping to the Big Apple, bringing their distinctive European sensibilities to the American fashion conversation. It's this sort of cross-pollination that keeps fashion week feeling fresh and globally relevant.
New York Men's Day opens proceedings on 11 September, because the chaps deserve their moment in the spotlight too. Morning shows from Archie, Ciara Son, and Peak Lapel will be followed by afternoon presentations from Bryan Jimenez and Max Esmail.
It's rather fitting that menswear gets the honours of opening fashion week – there's something wonderfully confident about starting with sharp tailoring and masculine elegance.
Who's Missing This Season
Every fashion week has its plot twists, and this season's no different. Peter Do and Helmut Lang – both previous scene-stealers – are notably absent from the schedule. While we're rather disappointed not to see what they'd have conjured up for Spring 2026, their absence does leave room for others to shine.
Carolina Herrera has also decided to skip New York this season, instead showing in Madrid on 18 September. A bold move, but one that speaks to fashion's increasingly global nature.
The Mystery Closer
Perhaps the most intriguing element of the entire schedule is that "to be announced" runway show slated for 16 September at 8 p.m. – the prime closing slot. The speculation is already running wild, and frankly, we're rather enjoying the suspense. Who gets the honour of sending everyone home with a lasting impression?
